Illiteracy causes violence against women, says Joshi
Deputy Speaker of Sudurpaschm State Assembly, Nirmala Badal Joshi
KANCHANPUR: Deputy Speaker of Sudurpaschm State Assembly, Nirmala Badal Joshi said illiteracy was the main cause behind the existing violence against women.
She made such a remark at an interaction organized by National Haliya Liberation Society Kanchanpur in course of 16-day activism against gender-based violence at Bhimduttanagar on Tuesday.
“Women should not bear violence”, she said, urging them to protest violence with recourse to the judicial mechanism.
Also speaking on the occasion, freed Haliya leader and former parliamentarian Hari Shreepali said discrimination against freed bonded laborers are still prevalent in society.
